Police arrest MD man driving without license, loaded gun

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Hagerstown man was arrested during a traffic stop for driving without a license and driving with a loaded gun early Sunday morning, Frederick police said.

The traffic stop happened around 3:08 a.m. in the area of Wilson Place and Taney Avenue when the officer spotted a dark colored SUV on the road without a functioning brake light.

The officer could smell marijuana in the car when he pulled over Clarence P. Carter, 35, of Hagerstown. It was also learned that Carter was driving on an out of state license that had been suspended. He was then placed under arrest. The officer then continued to search the SUV, police said. A loaded handgun, a straight bladed weapon, additional ammunition, and marijuana was found inside of the vehicle, according to authorities. Carter was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

Missing Frederick man found dead in car

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A missing Frederick County man was found dead inside of a vehicle on Saturday, officials said.

Timothy David Nicholson, 54, was last seen sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Nicholson was found Saturday after a passerby spotted a vehicle parked behind a building, Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

Nicholson was found dead inside of the vehicle.

His family has been notified, officials said.

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man is being sought in connection with a burglary that happened at the Medicine Plus Pharmacy in New Market, Md.

The burglary happened on March 20, around 4:30 a.m. at the store located on Old National Pike in New Market, Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

Officials said the man was able to get into the store by smashing the front door. The suspect stole large amounts of Oxycodone and Dextro-Amphetamenes prescription medications.

The suspect involved is being described as possibly a white man between the ages of 20 and 30 years of age. He has an average build, and was seen wearing a striped shirt, glasses, a mask and gloves.

Anyone with information about the case or who can identify the man is asked to call Detective Joe McCallion at 301-600-1022.

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick County Deputies responded to the five high school students that overdosed on prescription medication at Oakdale High School in Ijamsville Wednesday morning.

Deputies responded to Oakdale High School located on Eaglehead Drive in Ijamsville around 11 a.m., officials said.

The investigation showed that five female students ingested the prescription medications they got from a 15-year-old female student. Four of the students were taken to the Frederick Memorial Hospital and one was given to her parent.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police investigate vehicles broken into in Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick Police are investigating after three separate vehicles were broken into in the area of the Frederick Indoor Sports Complex.

Officers responded to the complex located at 1845 Brookfield Ct., for the report of theft from a vehicle, authorities said. Police found a total of three cars that had been broken into and had items stolen from inside.

Police are investigating.

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man was injured in a single vehicle collision that happened in Frederick, Md. early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the collision around 2:21 a.m. in the 400 block of Center Street, authorities said. The responding officer found a Toyota Tacoma that had backed into a parked van, police said.

The officers then saw a man slumped over the wheel unresponsive. The man was taken out of the vehicle and transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma for treatment, according to police. After his treatment he became conscious again.

The investigation is ongoing.

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick Police arrested a man who punched a man and then sprayed his pepper spray in during a fight in Frederick.

Officers responded to the 600 block of North Market Street for the report of a crowd standing in the road fighting, authorities said.

Police spotted Abiri Akeem Taylor, 32, of Frederick punching another man and then spraying his pepper spray. Taylor was then arrested. The crowd then dispersed and nobody else was impacted by the pepper spray, police said.

Taylor is being charged with second degree assault.
