FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- A well-known political family in Frederick may be poised to make county history by holding four local elected offices at once if voters elect the family members now on the ballot November 2.
If Ron Young, 69, and sons Brad, 45, and Blaine, 39, win their elections, the trio will simultaneously gain seats in state and county offices. They'll join Ron's third wife, currently serving Frederick Alderman Karen L. Young (D), in elected office to make it a Young political quartet.
The family's political history goes back to 1974, when Ron Young first took office as Frederick's Mayor, where he served for 16 years. Blaine's history includes previous stints as a city alderman and county commissioner. Brad has served on the Democratic party's Central Committee. But never have all four family members served at the same time.
Ron is running as a Democrat for the District 3 Senate seat now held by incumbent Republican Alex Mooney.
