Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences
Schools

Frederick, MD (October 18, 2010) – Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) invites parents to fall parent-teacher conferences Monday and Tuesday, November 22 and 23 at all schools.

FCPS urges parents to schedule conferences to learn about their child’s classroom, school performance and behavior.  Conferences help parents and teachers work together to support the student.  Schools encourage parents to bring their questions and contact them for conference-scheduling information if they have not already received it.

Students attend school as follows:

Monday, November 22:   All schools open 4 hours later than usual.  Students attend school in the afternoon only, and conferences begin after they are dismissed.   Schools dismiss students at the regular time and do not serve lunch.  Pre-kindergarten students do not attend.  High school students attend blocks 3 and 4, and afternoon courses are open at the Career & Technology Center.

Tuesday, November 23:  All schools dismiss students 3 and ½  hours early to allow parents time to meet with teachers in the afternoon. Students eat lunch before dismissal.  Pre-kindergarten students do not attend.  High school students attend blocks 1 and 2, and morning courses are open at the Career & Technology Center.

For more information about conferences and the attendance schedule, please contact the child’s school.

In other school calendar news during conferences week:  On Wednesday, November 24, schools are closed for a BOE-approved holiday for students and some staff.  On Thursday and Friday, November 25 and 26, schools are closed for state-mandated holidays to observe Thanksgiving and American Indian Heritage days.
