Frederick County Public Schools’ Judy Center volunteers from PNC Bank have logged an impressive 100 hours, helping prepare young children for school success. They met the goal that yields a $3,000 grant from PNC Bank’s Grow Up Great program. PNC staff will present the check at the Judy Center on Wednesday, November 3.

Grow Up Great grants help fund initiatives that prepare children, from birth to age five, for success in school and life.  To meet the goal, PNC volunteers helped at the center’s Friday morning play group for children through age 3 and at the program’s Family Literacy nights at Waverley Elementary.

When presenting the grant check, PNC will also deliver a donation of school supplies that PNC employees have collected.

Judy Center coordinator Cathy Nusbaum says, “The Frederick County Judy Center is very fortunate to have received PNC Bank volunteers’ time, the monetary donation and the school supplies. Their generosity has helped so many local children and families. The volunteers always arrived with a smile and a helping hand. At literacy nights they served dinners, cleaned up and helped families with the project.  At Playgroup, they held babies and played with toddlers.  We are so grateful for their support.”
