Donna Hopkins, along with former Washington Redskins, Darrell Green, and Gary Clark celebrate 12 years of being on the front lines with our community in the battle against breast cancer. This is a community-oriented event that presents an exciting men and women’s basketball competition and provides an opportunity for women and men from the community to receive breast cancer awareness information first-hand from local hospital representatives and health care professionals. Hopkins Breast Cancer Inc is committed to helping people living with breast cancer by providing funds to help with medical and other expenses incurred as a result of their illness, that are not covered by health insurance and other resources.  Proceeds from this event will go to men and women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer living in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.  The tournament will take place on September 23-25, 2011 at Lake Arbor Community Center, 10100 Lake Arbor Way, Mitchellville, MD  20721.  Donna Hopkins, the founder, will conduct the tournament with support from both the Prince Georges and Montgomery County Departments of Recreation.  The basketball tournament features highly enthusiastic local men and women's teams.  On Friday, September 23 at 6:45 p.m., are the opening ceremonies followed by a three point shot out leading into our opening men and women’s games.  On Saturday, games will run the entire day starting at 8 a.m.  On Sunday, games start at 8:00 a.m. concluding with semi-final and championship games for both men and women.  Admission to the tournament is free to the public.  Visit www.breastcancerhoops.org for information and directions.  Checks should be made payable to: Hopkins Breast Cancer Inc, P.O.
