The 70th Anniversary of the "date which will live in infamy," will be honored Wednesday, December 7 at Prince George's County's biggest American Legion Post, Greenbelt American Legion Post 136. Every year on December 7 at 5 p.m., the Department of Maryland conducts its Fall 2011 National Defense Field Forum and dinner to remember those who fought and were killed when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941.
"This dinner honors the survivors and fallen heroes of Pearl Harbor. Today, we keep the American Flag outside at half-mast to remember the first horrific attack on our soil and pay homage to those that died fighting for our country and to those who lived to tell their story," said Steve Messer, Greenbelt American Legion Post Manager.
