A Mount Airy man wanted for holding his girlfriend hostage and driving under the influence was arrested Friday, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office says Mitchel Yates, 20, was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding police after he allegedly fled from authorities on July 14.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a report that Yates was driving under the influence and keeping his girlfriend in his car against her will.

Yates' juvenile girlfriend was located unharmed and released to the custody of her parents, according to the sheriff's office.
