FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- An investigation is ongoing after a fatal crash that left one man dead in Frederick Wednesday afternoon, Maryland State police said.

The crash happened around 2:02 p.m. at the intersection of Route 15 and Fish Hatchery Road, authorities stated. A 1995 Ford Escort Station Wagon driven by Lester Rice, 89, of Frederick was trying to cross over Route 15 from Fish Hatchery Road, the investigation shows. Rice failed to yield the right away for a 2000 GMC pickup truck being driven by Andy Tressler, 59, of Thurmont.

Police said Tressler's car crashed into the driver's side of Rice's car. Rice was ejected from the car and had life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

He was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he died from his injuries.

According to authorities no charged have been filed at this time.
