Frederick stabbing leaves 2 critically injured

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two victims are in critical condition after an 18-year-old man stabbed them in Frederick Wednesday afternoon, Frederick Police said.

Police arrested Eric Alejandro Mendez-Cinque of Frederick in connection with the incident. The stabbing happened in the 1100 block of West Patrick Street around 4:41 p.m.

Two male victims were found suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. One of the victims was taken to the Meritus Medical Center for his injuries. The other person was taken to the Frederick Memorial Hospital for lifesaving efforts, police said. After surgery was done the victim was taken to Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore. Both victims are currently in critical condition.

Police said the suspect and the victims knew each other. They were all at the Rockledge Plaza shopping center when a fight broke out. Mendez-Cinque stabbed the two victims, police stated. The suspect then fled from the scene after the stabbing. Police found Mendez-Cinque in Hillcrest Park and arrested him. He was then later taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

Authorities are trying to identify any other suspects or witnesses.

Mendez-Cinque is being charged with one count of attempted first degree murder, two counts of first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment.
