Frederick man charged in hit-and-run accident

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police have charged a Frederick man with several violations after he allegedly was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Frederick, Maryland early Sunday morning.

According to authorities, Richard Anthony Busch, 26 of East 15th St. was charged with failing to report an accident to police, failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving property damage, failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving an injury, speeding, driving too closely to another vehicle and failing to control speed to avoid a collision.

DFC Kassondra Topper was on patrol when she discovered a white 4-door 2002 Infinity on the left shoulder of the road with extensive rear-end damage. There was also damage to a fence of a nearby residence.

According to police, the Infinity was traveling north when the driver slowed down at the intersection of Willowbrook Rd and McClellan Dr. then a 2003 Honda Pilot crashed into the rear of the Infinity. The driver of the Honda Pilot left the scene before DFC Topper arrived.

During the investigation, the deputy was able to identify Busch as the driver of the Honda Pilot. The deputy determined speed and driver error were contributing factors in the crash.

A passenger in the Infinity was treated and released from Frederick Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
