New Partnerships Provide Frederick County Public Schools Student Incentives
Schools

Frederick County Public Schools recently signed partnership agreements with Beyond Comics and Pump It Up of Frederick.  The partnerships will provide incentive and reward programs for student achievement and perfect attendance.

Beyond Comics owner Jim Cohen signed on to provide a 20% discount on the purchase of a comic book or graphic novel for achievement the school deems worthy of reward. Achievement may include improving grades, maintaining a high grade-point average and/or attaining Honor Roll status.  In addition, Beyond Comics offers a 30% discount to all school libraries and is available to assist schools wishing to schedule a graphic novel fair.

Pump It Up of Frederick president Amy Southmayd says that her company will offer free Pop In Playtime coupons that schools may distribute to students in grades kindergarten through five who exemplify good character and/or perfect attendance. The company will also make incentives and rewards available to PTA groups and schools for use at family fitness events and fun nights or for other fundraising activities.

The partnerships’ purpose is to help achieve the FCPS goal to engage all sectors of the community in education.  Anyone interested in partnering with the school system is invited to contact FCPS Career and Technology Education curriculum specialist Elizabeth Duffy at 301-644-5188 or via e-mail to Beth.Duffy@fcps.org.
