Three Former Frederick Keys Win World Series

www.Boxscorenews.com reports that last night in Arlington, Texas, three former Frederick Keys won the World Series wearing a different kind of black and orange – that of the San Francisco Giants. IF Mike Fontenot, RHP Chris Ray and C Eli Whiteside all won rings with the Giants, who defeated the Texas Rangers four games to one to win its first championship since they played at the Polo Ground in New York City in 1954.

Fontenot, was drafted by the Orioles in the first round of the 2001 draft and made his professional debut as a Frederick Key in 2002. In 2005, Fontenot was ripe to make his major league debut when prior to the season he was traded to Chicago (NL) in the deal that brought Sammy Sosa to Baltimore. A mid-season acquisition by San Francisco in 2010, Fontenot hit .282 in 28 games with the Giants and played in eight postseason games in San Francisco’s title run.
