Water main break in Frederick closes road

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Northbound Oppossumtown Pike at Amber Drive in Frederick is closed to all traffic due to a water main break Sunday morning.

Northbound traffic will not be able to get through for some time as crews try to fix the water main break. Residents are being asked to used alternative routes.

Police: Frederick woman stabs husband with kitchen knife

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Frederick woman was arrested for stabbing her husband with a kitchen knife during an argument Saturday night, police said.

The incident happened around 10:25 p.m. in the 1900 block of Moran Drive in Frederick, according to Frederick police.

Police responded to the home for a report of a domestic altercation and found Olivia Maybel Barnes,40, trying to physically keep her husband from leaving the house.


Police seek suspect in Frederick BP gas station robbery

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a BP gas station robbery that happened in Frederick, Md. on April 14.

The robbery happened around 11:43 p.m. at the gas station located at 503 W 7th Street, Frederick police said.

Authorities learned that the suspect entered the store with a knife and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is being described as a black man, between the ages of 30 and 40, standing 5'7" to 5'10" tall. He weighs between 180 and 200 pounds and has short hair or a shaved head, police said.

He was last seen wearing a gray short sleeve polo shirt, black pants and a black mask.

Officials attempt to ID skeletal remains found in Md.

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Officials are trying to identify skeletal remains that were found in 1989 in Frederick and have now released a completed lifelike recreation drawing of the face.

The remains were found on Right Hand Fork Road at the Watershed in Frederick, Md., Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

Officials said the remains may be of a man, between the ages of 25- and 40. He had a small to medium build. The estimated death was between November of 1988 and July 1989, however could have possibly happened before November 1988.

A lifelike recreation drawing was made of the face, officials said. Forensic reconstruction involves building a face on a skull to see what the person may have looked life.

Prince George's County man killed in accident

MYERSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Prince George's County man was killed early Friday morning after his vehicle hit a guard rail and landed in a ditch along Route 40.

According to Maryland State Police, Corey Hall, 28, from Fort Washington was heading eastbound on Route 40 in a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice.

Near the intersection of Route 40 and Pleasant Walk Road in Myersville, state police say Hall crossed over into the westbound lane and struck a guard rail. His vehicle then launched into the air and landed in a ditch.

Police say Hall died from his injuries after landing in the ditch.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, but police say they are investigating driver error as a factor.

20 years for Frederick mother in fatal child abuse case

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - A judge in Frederick has sentenced a woman to 20 years in prison for failing to prevent her husband from killing their 21-month-old daughter Anayah in a case that prompted state child-welfare reform legislation.

Stephanie Williams was sentenced Tuesday. She was convicted last week in a plea deal of first-degree child abuse resulting in death.

The judge suspended another 20 year and says he'll recommend referral to the Patuxent Institution, a state prison focused on mental-health treatment.

Police say Frankie Williams has acknowledged beating the girl. He's pursuing an insanity defense.

Frederick police arrest man for reckless driving

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police arrested a man in connection with reckless driving in Frederick, Md.

Alexander Kory Muse, 18, of Frederick Md. was arrested for reckless driving, negligent driving, attempting to elude police in official police vehicle by fleeing on foot, driving without a license and several other offenses.

Two Frederick officers saw a vehicle driving recklessly in the area of Madison Street and Center Street, authorities said. The vehicle was spotted again close to S. Market Street and Mt. Olivet Blvd., police said.

The vehicle was going south on S. Market Street when it hit several curbs, left the road and traveled down an embankment. The officers went to the vehicle to check on the people inside of the car, however found nobody inside.
